Flash Fic Challenge – It’s The End of the World As We Know It, And I Don’t Give A Fuck

Latest challenge, and since it’s profane of course I was doing it. ** It’s The End of the World As We Know It, And I Don’t Give A Fuck The first hundred days of the apocalypse were epic as fuck. Like, there was some weird ass virus or sexually transmitted disease or whatever the fuck, maybe it was the Andromeda Strain, I don’t know. By the time people started figuring out it had a ninety nine point nine percent fatality rate and was transmitted by air, a third of the world was dead. Where it had come from and what it actually was lost the race against time. The thing was, some people were immune. Very, very few. But I was one of them, which I figured out when I realized the entire neighborhood had dropped dead, except me. The illness didn’t affect...

A new list of MST3K recommendations

With the series reboot of Mystery Science Theater 3000 coming to Netflix in April, and me in need of some cheering up anyways, I thought I’d give you some opinions on the new to Netflix episodes you should definitely watch. Also all are available to watch online elsewhere, as well as purchase. ** Werewolf –This movie is wonderfully ridiculous, and could have been tailor made for MST3K. The movie is about a writer – who, I should note, is never actually seen writing – who picks up a case of werewolfism from being hit with the skull of a skinwalker. I should point out that none of our stars seem to be American, which wouldn’t be a problem if this wasn’t taking place in Arizona, and if anyone could, say, act. But save for Joe Estevez, who makes the...

Six Song Thursday

Because it’s been a hell of a week, I decided to go ahead and be light, and just do an ipod shuffle thing. Why? Because sometimes, you need to. ** You May Die In The Desert – Signals To Safety Ah, an old stand by of instrumental music. This has a nicely epic feel to it, and would make excellent trailer music, if anyone ever used instrumentals in trailers. (I’m not sure they do anymore.) But feel free to imagine what an Infected series trailer would look like, cued to this music. Gaytheist – Elderly Assassin Yep, the song is about exactly what you think it is: folk dancing. No! It’s about an elderly assassin. It’s at once kind of funny, and kind of horrifying. Which fits. Constant Lovers – Mush Teeth There is a mild theme of local-ish bands –...

Flash Fic Challenge – Construction Zone

The latest challenge is here, and I got this picture. I decided I saw something in the picture that isn’t true. But why not? ** “You’re gonna hafta come look at it, Steve,” Russ said, pushing his hard hat up higher on his head. Steve rubbed his eyes and sighed. This was supposed to be a simple building demolition, but at some point it had turned into a nightmare. Steve stepped out of the trailer and followed Russ, who stopped barely twenty feet away. Steve waited, not sure what he was supposed to see, and then, when he started examining it, he thought maybe it was a prank. What did they call it? A “tromp loll” or something? A realistic picture of something painted on something else? “There’s another building inside the building,” Russ said,...

An artist, you say? This may interest you ..

Please share! There’s going to be a volume 2 and/or issue 2 of the Friends For Equality music compilation and zine. Proceeds we receive online are being split evenly between ACLU, Planned Parenthood and Southern Poverty Law Center. The zine will also be sold at local events in Richmond to raise money for local social and reproductive justice organizations. The deadline for both is tentatively April 30. We would like this compilation to be even more diverse than the last one and encourage submissions in all genres and especially would like to give a voice to people of color, women, and non-binary/LGBTQ folks. Songs should be unreleased and under 10 minutes in length. We hope that unreleased songs will generate more sales! Artwork and writing for zine does...
